Happy Galentine’s Day!!

It’s February 13th! Yay for Galentine’s Day!

What is Galentine’s Day you may ask? Well, it’s only one of the best days of the whole year! I’ll let Pawnee’s own Leslie Knope explain it a little better…

Galentine's Day

I love the show Parks and Recreation. It’s hilarious and heartwarming and all kinds of awesome! The main character, Leslie Knope, is a fierce and feisty little woman who wasn’t always lucky in love. So, she came up with the idea for Galentine’s Day, a day to celebrate the gals in our lives. A day to celebrate friendship!

I just LOVE that! And I want to celebrate that today!

Not everyone has a romantic love to celebrate tomorrow, but most everyone has friendships that are a blessing to us in the best of times and the worst of times. I want to celebrate those friendships!

Can you help me do that?

Here’s the plan… In the comments tell me about a friend that has been a blessing to you. Why are you thankful for her? How has she encouraged you? Why do you want to celebrate her today on Galentine’s Day?

But, I don’t want to just celebrate them with words, I want to bless those who are a blessing.

Remember my giveaway the other day? The red vase and flower pops here? Well, I have another cute vase to give away! I will randomly pick a winner from the comments and send the vase and flower pops to the person who is mentioned. So, you have a chance to celebrate your friend and win something for them! Sweet! 🙂

But that’s not all. In light of Valentine’s Day, and this season of love, I think it’s important to remember the fact that “we love because He first loved us.” We have relationships, friendships, love in our lives because God loved us first. He is, and should be, our first true love.

So, in addition to the vase and flower pops, I want to bless someone with a new book by John Piper, “A Godward Heart: Treasuring the God who Loves You.” The description of the book says…

“John Piper invites you to experience deeper intimacy with God through these thought-provoking and soul-enriching meditations. Whether you are just discovering the divine richness of Scripture or have long been a passionate student, you’ll find a deeper understanding of God and renewed insight for your journey.”

That sounds like good stuff to me! I was blessed by a dear friend recently, and I want to use that blessing to bless someone else. So, I’m giving stuff away!

Friendship is beautiful! Friendship should be celebrated! So, let’s do that today! I will choose the winner tonight at 11:30 pm, so get those comments in!
